The catwalk, sizeist and ageist?

Each day we see, hear and breathe fashion, but is the catwalk failing to modernise?

Designers are constantly encouraged to widen their range of models including their sizes, age and ethnicity.

But are we really seeing a change that we so desire to see diversity on the catwalk.

I spoke to Jane Jorgensen, Disgraceland co-owner, vintage fashion shop and Dr Ali Guy, psychologist and Deputy Dean of School of Social Sciences and Law at Teesside University.

As global fashion mood changes, I wanted to discover the real life opinions from Teesside students on campus.

I asked four ladies and four gentlemen what their opinions were about models.

The two questions I asked them were: “Do you think models are good role models to young men and women?”

And: “Would you like to see curvier models on the catwalk?”
